Description: This chef's knife was made by Zoe Potter of Red Forge. Potter is 24 years old, hails from New Hampshire, and is a current American Bladesmith Society apprentice. Zoe began bladesmithing in 2016 and started making kitchen knives in 2019. Potter has taken several classes at the New England School of Metalwork in bladesmithing and blacksmithing. Outside of bladesmithing, Zoe works as a blacksmith and tool maker.
The 8-1/2 inch blade is forged from Zoe's own explosion damascus, combining carbon steels to ensure excellent edge holding. The high contrast pattern is extremely engaging and demands further attention. The knife has a nice distal taper and efficient cutting geometry. The spine and choil are rounded for additional comfort. The Red Forge touchmark is on the left side of the blade.
The handle is stabilized golden amboyna burl. The swirling figure of the natural wood nicely complements the damascus blade. A red amboyna spacer adds a nice contrast to the handle. The stainless steel bolster is textured and features fine silver inlays. Despite its length and tall blade, this knife feels very nimble and easy to control for its size. Like other knives, this knife should not be put in the dishwasher.
Excellent work throughout!
