Description: This Clip Point Utility was made by Mastersmith Bert Gaston. Bert became a mastersmith in 1993 and is the American Bladesmith Society Chairman of the Mastersmith Judging Committee. This knife was made in 2007 and was auctioned at a hammer-in in Los Angeles. It has been in a private collection and is in new condition.
The damascus blade was forged from carbon steels. It has a complex pattern that mixes fine and bold. The ricasso provides plenty of space to choke up on the blade for detailed cuts. The sambar stag handle is made with mortised tang construction. The stag was nicely jigged for a secure, comfortable grip. The nickel silver pins are textured to match the stag. The nickel silver bolster is stippled.
Excellent work throughout!
